    Eligibility Nomination for the Posse Arts Program Scholarship?

    Public high schools and community-based organizations (CBOs) in these specified cities/locations can propose rising seniors for a full-tuition Posse Arts Scholarship to their corresponding partner college:
    1. New York City public high schools/CBOs can propose rising seniors for the Arts Posse scholarship Program  to California Institute of the Arts.
    2. Rising seniors may be nominated for the Bard College Arts Scholarship by their public high schools or CBOs in Puerto Rico.

    3. Public high schools in Atlanta, the Bay Area, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Los Angeles, Memphis, Miami, Newark, New Orleans, Philadelphia, and Phoenix may nominate rising seniors for the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) Arts Scholarship. A “geodiverse” Arts Posse made up of 10 students from these cities is accepted by UNCSA.

    Note: Student may also self nominate.

    For the Posse Arts Program Scholarship, who should I suggest?

    The right candidates for the Arts are high school seniors who have the following attributes in addition to those we look for in Posse Scholars:
    1. A clear interest in studying the performing or fine arts, as well as the motivation to do so.
    2. A commitment to improving their skill set and creative engagement with their craft.
    3. A variety of interests, both inside and beyond the arts.

    How to submit a nomination for the Posse Arts Program?

    Are you a college counselor, teacher, or someone who works with college-bound young adults, but not a Posse nominator yet? Are you located in one of the cities listed above? To sign up as a Posse Arts Program nominator, send an email to arts@possefoundation.org.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR ARTS POSSE

    What college majors are available to Arts Posse Scholars?

    Depending on whatever Posse partner institution Arts Posse scholarship Program ultimately enroll in, a variety of arts majors are open to them. The visual arts (architecture, art history, fine art, electronic arts, graphic design, or photography), dance, film/video (including animation), music, or theater (acting or design & production) are where Arts Posse Scholars typically focus their studies. Candidates for the Arts Posse are given more information about particular programs provided at partner colleges as they progress through the screening process.

    Can an Arts Posse Scholar also pursue other fields of study?

    Depending on the Posse Arts partner university that an Arts Posse Scholar is accepted to, they may be able to major in subjects other than the arts.

    Which high school credentials are ideal for candidates in the arts?

    There is no prerequisite for candidates for the Arts Posse to attend high schools with audition- or portfolio-based programs. However, each applicant must be able to show that they possess the knowledge and abilities necessary to succeed in their chosen field of art. According to the recruiting partner college, an audition or portfolio will be required as candidates progress through Posse’s Dynamic Assessment Process. Candidates for the Arts Posse should also have excellent academic records.

    What happens to student applications whose suitability for the Posse Arts Program is deemed to be questionable?

    Nominations for the Arts Program will disqualify students from consideration for other Posse initiatives.

    Who should I suggest as a candidate for a STEM Posse Scholarship?

    The ideal STEM applicants are high school seniors who possess the following traits in addition to the general characteristics we look for in Posse scholarship Program :

    1. A demonstrated interest in STEM and motivation to major in STEM.
    2. enrolled in rigorous STEM courses in high school.
    3. The ability to “think” like a scientist; they are inquisitive, engage in scientific research, and put effort into an idea until they can comprehend it.
    4. A wide range of interests both inside and outside of STEM domains.

    Cities that are pursuing STEM Scholars

    The college and university partners of Posse each offer degrees in math and science. STEM students make up the majority of Posses. All of the participating Scholars in the Posse STEM Program have demonstrated an interest in STEM, and they all get specific programming to help them achieve their objectives.

    You must be registered with a Posse city recruiting for Posse’s STEM partners in order to nominate for the Posse STEM Program.
